A journey is not just a destination, but an opportunity to create authentic connections with places and people.
Since its opening, APS has organized responsible tourism tours in Tanzania, Senegal, Nepal, Morocco, Madagascar, Colombia, Argentina, Zambia, and Malawi, involving over 600 travelers to date and promoting education for development as a tool for creating opportunities for cultural enrichment.
Travelers are always accompanied by someone who has migrated from that country and now lives in Italy. Social exchange, enhancement, protection of local resources, and understanding of different traditional heritages are the principles guiding our efforts to overcome prejudices and encourage interaction between people.
“Through My Eyes” is a responsible tourism project where young people with an immigration background guide tourists through the Ballarò market and other neighborhoods. The goal is to change the narrative about migration. It was born from the desire to create more symmetrical relationships with foreigners, who, thanks to the project, go from being “carriers of needs” to “travelers” — custodians of resources to share with the community. Since 2018, more than 200 tours have been completed.
